Music and Dancing
Music for the Grand Ball will be provided by Spare Parts, a band who plays for
vintage dances of many different periods, from Regency (Jane Austen period - 1800s) to Civil War.

The dances will be called by Susan de Guardiola (her website)
The plan right now is to start the Ball with a set of modern waltzes and foxtrots. There will
then be a few sets of 18th-century dances, and another set of modern dances, ending with the final waltz.
Please check back to this website later - we plan to post the sets of dances when they are finalized.
We realize that many people will not be familiar with the 18th-century dances, so these dances will be taught
beforehand; they will not include really complex dances such as minuets. Moreover, since we will all be
in complex (though elegant!) costumes, with wigs, trains, etc., the dances will be
designed for such outfits - no reels, swing dances, or mad gallops.
